TheatreWorks New Milford is seeking a cast of ten men and six women - aged 18 to 60 - for its upcoming musical, KISS ME, KATE, with Music and Lyrics by Cole Porter and book by Bella & Samuel Spewack. A timeless Broadway classic, the Tony Award-winning hit musical KISS ME, KATE is based on William Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew" and centers on big-time actors Lilli Vanessi and Fred Graham. The formerly-married, constantly battling couple is now forced to reunite for a new musical version of "Shrew." Their onstage tussles as Shakespeare's Katherine and Petruchio are nothing compared to their offstage affairs, backstage brawls, and hilarious misunderstandings. As time goes by the couple realizes, much like the characters in the original play, that they are hopelessly bound to each other. Rehearsals begin in August with performances beginning September 25 and running through October 24 on Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays. Dover Little Theatre, in Dover, NJ, is holding auditions for William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night. Directed by Alex Oleksij. PERFORMANCE DATES: SEPTEMBER 25th & 26th, OCTOBER 2nd, 3rd, 4th,* 9th & 10th (*matinee). Shakespeare’s classic comedy of romance, music, and mistaken identity. Orsino is love with Olivia, Malvolio is love with Olivia, Andrew Aguecheek is in love with Olivia, but Olivia is in love Cesario. Except Cesario is really a girl, Viola, who is love with Orsino. And then Viola’s twin brother shows up! This version of 12th NIGHT is set in the 1930s. Songs from the period (Gershwin, Porter, Rodgers & Hart, etc.) will be interpolated into the show, so auditionees should be prepared to sing an up tempo song of that type, as well as being prepared to read Shakespearean dialogue.

shipwrecked girl who thinks her brother drowned. Disguises herself as a boy, Cesario, to work at the court of Duke Orsino and falls in love with the Duke.

ORSINO: Duke of Illyria. Commanding and romantic, yet melancholy. In love with the idea of being in love.

OLIVIA: A countess, whose father and brother have both recently died. Determined to wallow in her grief, she refuses all romantic suitors - until she meets Viola/Cseario.

MALVOLIO: Olivia’s steward. A prim and proper prig. Disliked by just about everyone. Hopes to marry Olivia and become master of her estate.

SIR TOBY BELCH: Olivia’s uncle, whose chief concern in life is to drink and make merry.

SIR ANDREW AGUECHEEK: One of Olivia’s suitors and a blithering idiot. Frequently duped by Sir Toby Belch.

FABIAN: Olivia’s groundkeeper, has a real grievance against Malvolio, and eager to humiliate him.

Trekkie Monster: He lives on Avenue Q in the same building that Princeton moves into. An odd monster who has a big heart, he invested in the internet and is secretly a millionaire.

Bear: A cute and charming little boy bear who, with the help of his counterpart, girl bear, is a very bad influence on Princeton. Must be a strong singer/ actor with great comedic timing and skill with different character voices. Vocal style: Contemporary musical theatre with a pop flair. Sean: Male. Mid 20's. The life of the party. Everyone wants to be like him, and around him. Great sense of humor, but a socially uncaring individual with a personality that is addicted to fun. Could be considered by some to be 'party stupid.'

Keith: Male. Mid 20's. Usually a happy-go-lucky individual, he is about to discover he has a bad temper.

Hackensack Theatre Company is holding auditions by appointment for young adult and adult actors for Willy Wonka. 1st Rehearsl: July 6, 2009. Production in September in Hackensack. Roald Dahl’s timeless story of the world-famous candy man and his quest to find an heir comes to life in this stage adaptation of “Charlie and The Chocolate Factory,” which features the songs from the classic family film “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.”

Seeking:
Willy Wonka: Wonka is an enigmatic character; at once mysterious and mischievous but also charismatic. A strong singing and speaking voice is required. This character may double as the Candy Man. Ideally, the character should look like he is in his late 30s-early 40s, but we are open to seeing other actors as well.

The Candy Man: The Candy Man is a charismatic candy shop owner. Must be able to sing and act. This character may double as Willy Wonka.

Grandpa Joe: Grandpa Joe is the grandfather we all wish we had when were Charlie’s age. He is caring, patient, and sweet, always reminding Charlie to be cheerful. He should be kind and funny. This role sings a bit. Ideally, the actor should appear over 50 years old.

Mr. Bucket and Mrs. Bucket: These are featured roles for actors with nice voices and are natural nurturers. Both sing solos.

Phineous Trout: Phineous is the report who announces the winners of the Golden Ticket contest throughout the show. He has a dry and sarcastic sense of humor. The role requires some singing. This character can also be played by a female actor.

Mrs. Gloop: Augustus’ mother who has overindulged her son with candy. She accompanies Augustus on the tour of the factory and sings a song with him. The role requires a character actress that can master a German accent. Being overweight is a plus for this role.

Ms. Teavee: She is a modern-take on television moms of the distant past. Think June Cleaver, Marion Cunningham, and Carol Brady all in one. She’s perfectly put together and a bit vacant. She sings a song with her son, Mike, but does not need a polished voice.

Grandparents: Charlie’s three grandparents are mainly non-singing character roles. They should have good comic timing and be excellent character actors. They should be able to play over 50 years old.

Mr. Salt: Mr. Salt’s solution to most problems is to buy his way out. He is upper class and is usually portrayed with a high British accent. He sings very little.

Mrs. Beauregard: She is a teacher of geography and has invested a great deal of hard-earned money on therapy for her orally fixated daughter, with less than stellar results. This role is virtually non-singing. Actress should be able to perform with a Southern American accent as the character is from Georgia.

Oompa-Loompas: A chorus of male and female workers in Willy Wonka's chocolate factory. They will have a great deal of singing and dancing as a group. They need not be short.

Lost Colony Entertainment is casting for "Honest Abe & The Purity Ring," a sexually charged dark comedy that pushes the envelope in the tradition of films like "The Brown Bunny," "Shortbus," and "Seven Stories." Like the new Steven Soderbergh film "The Girlfriend Experience," "Honest Abe & The Purity Ring" stars an adult film performer. Amai Liu plays Neely Pepridge, a Miley Cyrus-like pop star who becomes involved with her much older director during the making of his "Oscar worthy" film.

Director: Richard O’Sullivan. Non-union. Deferred pay. Will be shot this Fall in NYC.

Roger Greenberg: Jewish male, 30’s-60’s. Quirky Hollywood agent.

Staccato Martin: Female, 18-25. Serious Ellen Page-type actress who is Drey’s first choice for the role that Neely winds up playing.

Lance: Male, 18-25. Neely’s hometown boyfriend. Horny, disrespectful punk. Actor must be comfortable with brief nudity and simulating sexual relations with the leading actress.
