The Silly Jazz Company is holding auditions by appointment for Muffin Man, part of the New York International Fringe Festival. Rehearses: July 27 - Aug 13 flexible schedule. Festival is August 14-30, 2009 show times pending. Website: muffinmanthemusical.blogspot.com. SYNOPSIS: Muffin Man is a whimsical musical about a barista in love with the Muffin Man. It's her first day at work and through the advise of crazy customers and the encouragement of her new boss, she tells him how she feels. A part of the FringeHIGH program. NOTE: Seeking funny actors who sing. Small stipend.

[LYLA] Early 20's to play high schooler. Barista at the Perky Coffee Bean, funny, romantic and in love with the Muffin Man. Soprano

[JUSTIN] Early 20's to play high schooler, The Muffin Man, neighborhood boy, object of Lyla's affection. Tenor/Baritone

[KEVIN] Late 20's to Early 30's, procrastinating songwriter who makes the Perky Coffee Bean his "office space" in love with Sadie. Tenor/Baritone

[SADIE] Late 20's to Early 30's, owner of the Perky Coffee Bean, ex-sorority type who encourages Lyla's romance. Jazz influenced Alto.

[UNCLE GARY] Perky Coffee Bean regular, Lyla's uncle. He was once a lawyer, but is now a bike messenger, his life is falling through the cracks.

[CUSTOMERS] Versatile actors able to play multiple roles including:

[LYLA'S MOM] Late 30's to early 50's Kooky mom who takes many pictures of her little girl at work.

[LYLA'S DAD] Late 30's tp early 50's Supportive father who makes lame jokes.

Mon, July 13 and Tues, 14, 2009, 7:00 - 9:00pm, TheatreWorks, 5 Brookside Ave., New Milford (next to the CVS), New Milford, CT. All auditioners must come prepared with 16 bars of a classic Broadway show tune (something by Porter, Gershwin, Rodgers, Loesser, Lerner & Lowe, etc.) An accompanist will be provided. Auditioners also should dress comfortably and be prepared to move. KISS ME, KATE is under the direction of Bradford Blake of New Milford and the musical direction of Arnie Gross.

TheatreWorks New Milford is seeking a cast of ten men and six women - aged 18 to 60 - for its upcoming musical, KISS ME, KATE, with Music and Lyrics by Cole Porter and book by Bella & Samuel Spewack. A timeless Broadway classic, the Tony Award-winning hit musical KISS ME, KATE is based on William Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew" and centers on big-time actors Lilli Vanessi and Fred Graham. The formerly-married, constantly battling couple is now forced to reunite for a new musical version of "Shrew." Their onstage tussles as Shakespeare's Katherine and Petruchio are nothing compared to their offstage affairs, backstage brawls, and hilarious misunderstandings. As time goes by the couple realizes, much like the characters in the original play, that they are hopelessly bound to each other. Rehearsals begin in August with performances beginning September 25 and running through October 24 on Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays. TheatreWorks is an award-winning, professional non-Equity theatre company located on 5 Brookside Avenue, just off Route 202 (next to the CVS), in New Milford, CT.
