An open call for singers is being held for Wicked. All North American Productions (Broadway, 1st National Tour, 2nd National Tour, California). Equity Production Contract, $1,558/week minimum. Prepare 16 bars of a contemporary musical theater song showing range. For Glinda, prepare 16 bars of a musical theater song showing legit soprano. Bring sheet music. Bring a photo or snapshot and resume stapled together. Seeking future replacements for the following principal roles: Elphaba: Female, 20s, any ethnicity. The “wicked” witch. Born with emerald-green skin, she has had a rough childhood and is a social outcast from the beginning. Smart, fiery, sensitive, passionate, misunderstood, sincere, has potent inner beauty, rallies for the underdog, has great talent for sorcery. Finds an unexpected best friend in Glinda and falls in love with Fiyero. Needs star power and a powerhouse, high pop belt singing voice. STARRING Glinda: Caucasian female, 20s. The “good” witch. Gorgeous, charming, entrancing, ambitious, perky, vain, very popular, a social climber, but also vulnerable and sympathetic. Her friendship with Elphaba reveals more depth in her character. Needs excellent comic chops and star power. A glorious singing voice with high soprano and belt capability. STARRING. Fiyero: Male, 20s, any ethnicity. The Winkie prince, a wealthy party boy with a “scandalacious” reputation. Very handsome with striking presence. Not really shallow and self-absorbed as he initially seems. He’s attracted to Glinda at first, but his interaction with Elphaba causes him to reevaluate his way of thinking. Strong pop tenor singing voice. Boq: Male, 20s, any ethnicity, height of 5’7”or shorter. A helpless, quirky Munchkin. Enamored with Glinda, who pays him no mind. Reluctantly, he becomes involved with Nessarose. Needs a comical actor with a strong tenor singing voice. Nessarose: Female, 20s, any ethnicity. Elphaba’s lonely, compassionate, attractive younger sister, she was favored by their father. Has spent her life crippled in a wheelchair. Becomes obsessively attached to Boq and becomes the Wicked Witch of the East. Needs a commanding actress with a strong belt singing voice.

Oz! - Youth Auditions

Auditions are being held for Oz! by L. Frank Baum adapted by Tim Kelly. Music and lyrics by Bill Francoeur. For Kids By Kids production.Youth from age 8 through high school will be considered for roles. The timeless "Wizard of Oz" tale has been adapted into a dazzling musical. A cyclone carries Dorothy and Toto to the magical Land of Oz. When Dorothy's house squashes the Wicked Witch of the East, she is ecstatically thanked by the liberated Munchkins and given permission to wear the witch's powerful silver slippers. From there, Baum's lovable characters, rubber-legged Scarecrow, Cowardly Lion and Tin Woodsman, join Dorothy on a journey to meet the great Oz. While on their trek, they battle the Wicked Witch of the West, who is determined to get revenge for the death of her sister. This bright musical is charged with a bundle of wonderful songs and thrill after thrill... like the escape from the Fighting Trees and encountering the enchanted poppies. Eventually, Glinda the Good Witch helps Dorothy defeat the evil witch and her winged monkeys. The great and powerful wizard grants Dorothy's friends their wishes and of course, helps Dorothy return to Kansas. Auditioners are requested to prepare a song they can sing a capella. Cold readings from the script will be provided. The production will utilize prerecorded music. Seeking: Dorothy – a charming girl, lost in Oz. Toto – her dog. Glinda the Good Witch– kind witch of the North. Wicked Witch – Dorothy’s enemy. Scarcrow – stuffed with straw. Tin Woodman – a man on metal. Cowardly Lion – a big cat without courage. Oz – the wonderful wizard. Aunt Em – Dorothy’s aunt. Also Munchkins, Poppies, Living Trees, Gaurdians of Oz, Winged Monkeys, Ensemble. Performances of OZ! will run from February 6 to 22.
