New York Stage Casting Update: Jan 19, 2010

Wednesday, February 10th at 12:00pm. Pearl Studios, 500 8th Avenue, 12th Floor, New York, NY. Please prepare 16 bars of a Legit Musical Theatre Song with sheet music in the appropriate key that shows off range (sopranos please show off your top range) and personality. Women who would like to be considered for Ms Gultch/Wicked Witch West should please prepare a suitable SHORT monologue or poem. Accompanist will be provided. Be prepared to dance. Women please bring heels and jazz shoes; men bring character and jazz shoes. All auditioning MUST bring a current headshot and resume, stapled together.

Dave Clemmons Casting will hold auditions for the upcoming (2010-2011) non-Equity national tour of The Wizard of Oz. Book by L. Frank Baum; Music & Lyrics by Harold Arlen & E. Y. Harburg with Adaptation by John Kane; Directed by Nigel West; Choreographed by Leigh Constantine; Musical Supervision by John Mezzio; Dave Clemmons Casting, Casting Director. Produced by Networks Presentations. Rehearsals for the 2010-2011 leg begin on or about October 11th, tour opens on or about November 16th and is booked through June 2011. DOROTHY GALE
- 18 and up to play age 14 -16. Young strong tomboy. Vocal range: G below middle C - F with a legit sound. Singer who moves well. Possible flying involved. Not allergic to dogs!!

HUNK / SCARECROW- Male singer/dancer to play age 25 – 35. Strong actor with an honest quality. Sympathetic and optimistic friend. Lovable and clumsy. Must be a excellent dancer. Acrobatic skills preferred. Vocal range: strong baritone to F.

HICKORY / TINMAN- Male singer/dancer to play age 28- 40. Tall and Angular actor. Must be prepared to wear silver face makeup!! Possible flying involved. Must be physically fit. Good dancing skills required. Vocal range: strong baritone to G.

ZEKE / COWARDLY LION- Male singer who moves well to play age 30 – 45. Cuddly actor with excellent comic timing. Vocal range: strong baritone to F.

MS GULTCH / WICKED WITCH WEST- Female actor to play age 40 – 50. Tall angular mature actress. Must be prepared to fly. No singing required.

AUNT EM / GLINDA- Female singer to play age 40 – 50. More mature strong motherly character actress. Will be required to fly. Vocal range: strong soprano to Ab (at least).

UNCLE HENRY / GUARD- Male singer who moves well to play age 40- 50. Strong character actor. Good comedic skills. Vocal range: strong baritone to F.

PROF MARVEL / OZ – Male to play age 50 – 60. Strong character actor. Older father figure with an eccentric theatrical flair. Basic conjuring or sleight of hand a bonus. Must be prepared to fly off stage in balloon basket. Vaudeville song and dance man. Short simple soft shoe required.

Theater for the New City is holding open call auditions for Denial! Time to Face the Musical. Director: Aaron Pratt. Music Director: Brad Gardner. Denial! Time to Face the Musical by Nikki Jenkins is a daring satire about how far people will go to avoid reality.

Enter the world of Denial, a modern fairytale about ‘Princess’ Mandi, a wealthy New York socialite who doesn't know — or doesn't want to know —she's Black.
