New York Stage Casting Update: March 30, 2010

Auditions will take place in Manhattan in early April by appointment. Actors who are called in for appointments will be asked to prepare a 60 second monologue, comedy or drama. White Rabbit Theatre and Kim M. Jones seek strong, ensemble-based actors adept at both comedy and drama for Danny, a comedy/drama written and directed by Andrew Rothkin, performing at The Bleecker Street Theatre in June as part of the 2010 Planet Connections Theatre Festivity, New York City's premier eco-friendly theatre festival. (www.planetconnectionsfestivity.com) There will be six performances in total. All characters are articulate, educated and intelligent. All roles are showcase-worthy and all actors are on stage for most – if not all – of the 90 minute play. Actors of color and all ethnicities strongly encouraged to submit for all roles. Non-union. No pay.

, 27 – 33, any ethnicity; part poet, part tough guy, part slob, part little boy; a brilliant man who can’t get it together; a slacker who never reached his enormous potential; sexy and very cool. * Must play guitar moderately well or better; * Must provide a guitar to all rehearsals and performances; * Must be adept at Shakespeare.

DARCY, 27 – 33, any ethnicity; part mother hen, part Martha Stewart, part Doris Day; the heart of the group.

NADINE, 27 – 33, any ethnicity; a smart, strong, charismatic knock-out; a diva and the hardest worker in town. Her friends thinks she is going to be a Hollywood superstar.

MARCO, 27 – 33, any ethnicity; gay; outrageous and outlandishly funny, a natural entertainer and the constant center of attention – all to mask his deep, profound insecurities; sweet and introspective at his core, but he rarely shows this for more than a moment or two at a time. * Must sing a capella exceptionally well.

JOHN, 27 – 33, any ethnicity; gay (though you’d never know it on first sight); smart, attractive; the most emotionally complex of the group who is trying to get his life together while facing some major personal demons.

FELIPE, any age 18 – 45, Latino or East Asian; gay; the outsider of the group; very sweet, sexy and boyish. Non-American accents could be an asset to the role. (Those who can turn an accent on and off might be asked to try it both ways at the audition and/or callbacks.)

Thursday, April 1, 2010 — OPEN Auditions (Equity/non) 11 AM — 1 PM . No appointment necessary. A monitor will not be provided. The producer will run all aspects of this audition. Telsey + Company, 315 West 43rd Street, 10th Floor. New York, NY. Please prepare a Jerry Lee Lewis song (or song in that style or from the era) and accompany themselves on the piano. In the production, Jerry Lee Lewis sings: “Real Wild Child”, “Great Balls Of Fire”, “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On”. Bring picture and resume, stapled together.

Seeking: Jerry Lee Lewis and Jerry Lee Lewis Cover: 20s. Male. He was Rock & Roll’s legendary piano prodigy and celebrated “Last Man Standing.” Seeking an actor/singer/pianist. Must be a superb piano player, able to play like Jerry Lee Lewis; fun, energetic; comic skills a plus.
