On The Square Productions is seeking Equity/Non-Equity actors for a site-specific production of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The production will take place July 2010 in an outdoor location in Astoria, NY. Rehearsals will take place in June in both Manhattan and Queens.

Seeking:
Bottom
– (Male) A braggart with a good heart. Must be a strong comedic actor with classical experience.

Oberon – (Male) King of Shadows. Physically powerful, confident and scheming.

Demetrius and Lysander – (Male) Stubborn, passionate and handsome young men. Both in love with Hermia.

Theseus – (Male) Duke of Athens. Heroic, confident, rational.

The Fairies – (Male and Female) Graceful actors, preferably with a background in movement.

The Mechanicals – (Male and Female) Interesting character types to play a motley crew of working-class men and women trying there hand at acting. Classical experience and great comic timing is a plus. ALL TYPES are encouraged to audition.

Saturday, May 15 from 2pm to 6pm & Sunday, May 16 from 3pm to 5pm. Simple Studios 134 West 29th Street (btw 6th and 7th Avenues). Sides provided.

American Thymele Theatre is holding open call auditions for its Euripides summer services production of Alcestis. Other than the King’s Servant, Southern Mediterranean features are required for all parts. All must be able to project and be flexible with Eastern standard English. Classical training/experience preferred. All paid roles. Union/non-union actors. Rehearsals start May 27. Runs early July in NYC.
