New York Stage Casting Update: Aug 24

OPEN Auditions (Equity/non):

Tuesday, September 7, 2010, 3:30 PM – 7 PM. Ripley-Grier Studios, 520 Eighth Avenue, 17th Floor (elevator to 16th). Producer’s monitor begins sign-up at 3 PM. Arrive by 6:45 PM to be guaranteed an audition. The producer will run all aspects of this call. Equity audition procedures will NOT be in effect, and no Equity Monitor will be provided. Please prepare one song in the style of the show (1920s- or 1930s-inspired music, e.g. AIN’T MISBEHAVIN’, PURLIE; songs by the Gershwins, Irving Berlin and Cole Porter also work well). You must bring sheet music for your song; accompanist provided. You will be given a short scene at the audition to read. Please bring a picture & resume, stapled back-to-back.

Open auditions are being held for The Scottsboro Boys. Broadway/Production Contract, Currently $1,605/week minimum. Producers: Barry Weissler and Jackie Florin. Book: David Thompson. Score: John Kander and Fred Ebb. Dir: Susan Stroman. Mus Dir: David Loud. Casting: Jim Carnahan & Stephen Kopel. If cast, please note rehearsals begin immediately. 1st reh: 9/13/10. Opens on Broadway: 10/31/10. There will be an invited dance call on a separate day.

Seeking: singer/dancer/actors to play African American male characters, ages 15 - 21. Must have tap-dance experience. Must be comfortable singing and tapping.

Casting Director Tiandra Gayle seeks actors for Diversity Players of Harlem and DA’ Right Entertainment’s October 2010 production of Die Laughing the Stage Play written by Marq Overton and Directed by Dwight Ali Williams. All actors must be willing to work through an intense rehearsal schedule and with a focused production team. There is potential pay.

Seeking:
Young Michelle: Energetic African American or Mixed Race girl to play 8 years of age (must be mature).

Michelle: African American or Mixed Race Young Lady to play 18 years of age.

Sheila: African American, Asian or Caucasian Woman to play 35 to 45 years of age.
